The New York Hotel Trades Association provides medical services to unionized hotel employees within the City of New York. The medical services, which include internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, OB/GYN, radiology and other diagnostic services are provided through five medical centers located throughout the city and surrounding boroughs. The Capstone team was assigned the task of identifying an implementation plan to minimize physician resistance in the organization’s efforts to launch an electronic medical records system linking each of their facilities and labs. The Capstone team researched other health care organizations that have implemented an Electronic Medical Record System. Through this research, the Capstone team was able to provide recommendations to the organization on how to most effectively implement an Electronic Medical Records System. The Capstone team’s initial recommendations were provided in the form of “Best Practices.” To support those recommendations, the Capstone team created a survey and distributed it to all of the physicians that work for the Health Centers and upon completion the survey was thoroughly analyzed. The surveys measured the physicians’ acceptance of an Electronic Medical Record System in their organization. The results of the analysis allowed the Capstone team to provide “Final Recommendations” for the New York Hotel Trades Association.
