Global Education Initiative

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) provides leadership, advocacy, and technical assistance on major educational issues. CCSSO is launching a new Global Education Initiative to become a global leader in sharing best education policies and practices from around the world. To this end, the Capstone team conducted five case studies of models that CCSSO could use to implement this new initiative. Team members gathered data from written documents and personal interviews with executives from international organizations. Based on lessons learned from international organizations, the team provided CCSSO with a series of concrete recommendations and made initial contacts for future partnerships. The team made suggestions on structural, financial, and communication considerations and ways to deal with resistance to change and challenges to working in the international arena.
