During her first rotation, the resident participated in the advanced access program, in which she took an active part by collecting data, monitoring progress, and contributing to possible action plans to reduce appointment wait times. In the process of collecting data, the resident was able to observe each department’s method of admitting patients. During the second half of her rotation, the resident spent most of her time in the Columbia Affiliations finance office where she created various financial spreadsheets and budgets and worked on other projects for the office manager.
