Palladia is a nonprofit organization which offers substance abuse treatment, with a focus on assisting parents in reunifying with their children. Now at a pivotal point in its communication development, Palladia requested a Capstone team to study service models exhibited by three substance abuse treatment programs, one of which focuses on services enhanced by the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program, in order to identify the most effective and problematic components of communication between the substance abuse and child welfare systems. Staff and clients at Palladia and in peer treatment programs were interviewed to ascertain the scope and nature of Palladia’s communication process, and a comprehensive literature review was conducted, as well. The information was then compiled, researched, and analyzed to produce a report of findings and recommendations which would assist Palladia in addressing the critical communication issues currently facing the organization, and provide an evaluation of the strengths, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
