Montefiore Family Care Practice Bad Debt Assessment

Past practice at Montefiore Medical Center clinics included the acceptance of financial loss as a part of doing business. Clinics represent a source of teaching for interns and residents, sources of healthcare to indigent members of the local population and sources of inpatient referrals to the medical center. In the past, these positive attributes and roles of the clinic have overshadowed the need for tighter financial management of the Montefiore clinics. The Capstone team analyzed the revenue cycle of the clinics and made recommendations that would improve the fiscal management of Montefiore clinics while adhering to their overall mission.
