New York Organ Donor Network

The New York Organ Donor Network (NYODN) is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit, federally designated organ procurement organizations (OPO). The resident worked on several projects, the most rewarding of which was the Caribbean Initiative. This project surfaced due to the concern the Donor Network has about the flow of New York State Donor Registry materials reaching the Caribbean community. In an effort to resolve this problem, the resident was given the opportunity to help develop a grant and coordinate a conference to identify viable strategies to assist both professionals and the general public in making informed decisions about donation.
