North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System
The Resident was actively involved in numerous projects throughout the health system, ranging from creating health system resources and business plans to building physician partnerships and strategic assessment of current and future healthcare delivery practices. The Resident, in concert with senior leadership, physicians, infection control practitioners and other healthcare professionals, conducted a comprehensive assessment of infection control practices throughout each of the system’s hospitals and compared findings both internally and with outside institutions recognized for their innovative approaches to infection control. A newly established committee devoted to approaching as close as clinically possible to a rate of zero hospital-acquired infections was established to discuss these findings. The Resident supported committee interaction and created a defined action plan based on best practices that will serve as the framework for the system’s future approach to infection control practices.
