VA New York Harbor Healthcare System

Reporting to the director of the healthcare system, the resident participated in and contributed to various projects, including a prospective patient safety assessment; preparation for a JCAHO survey; preparation of policy fact sheets; coordination of the employee-of-the-month program; and development of a program to maximize federal reimbursements. The resident also served as Acting Administrative Officer for Radiation Oncology and was Principal Investigator on an IRB-approved study to conduct a process evaluation of the ethics case consultation program. The resident taught courses on conflict resolution and prevention of violence in the workplace. Moreover, the residency included rotations through areas of the system, including quality assurance, medical services, patient services, finance and IT, HR and facilities, and compliance.
