The Resident participated in many clinical and administrative initiatives within the executive office and throughout the medical center. The performance improvement projects included: recommending techniques to reduce the patient-missed appointment rates in 7 outpatient clinics and presenting the project at the ACHE Congress; participating in a RCA (Root Cause Analysis) team to recommend safety process improvements; acting as a liaison between Performance Improvement (PI) leadership and a JCAHO stakeholder team; and participating in developing a hospital-wide clinic cancellation and rescheduling policy. In collaboration with the Engineering service, the Resident also performed a space utilization analysis for an expanding Dermatology outpatient practice and presented recommendations for implementation. The resident co-coordinated the annual fundraising campaign and received two awards in recognition of achievement. The Resident’s other projects included co-coordinating the Employee of the Month program and facilitating financial payment through patient data analysis.
