The resident was involved in the Performance Improvement Initiative, an ongoing project in the Perioperative Services Department of the hospital. The resident also worked on the hospitals Volume & New Business Task Force on both short- and long-term strategies for achieving greater hospital throughput and additional revenue generation. Other resident projects included working on the Management Organization Task Force and EMS Planning Task Force. The resident also conducted a financial evaluation of the physician referral telephone service, which was presented to the Marketing Committee of the Board of Trustees; helped prepare the 2003 nursing budget for submission to the Chief Operating Officer; and established a donor-funded annual award process in the Department of Medicine.
