Professional Writing

Course Description

Professional Writing is a six-week workshop that examines the writing structures and skills students need for clear and successful communications at Wagner and the professional world beyond. Designed with international students and less-than-confident writers in mind, the course begins with an in-depth look at the particular elements of public policy memos, then moves on to break down the elements necessary for sharp op-eds, blog posts, literature reviews and more. The class will also examine self-editing strategies and methods for avoiding common clarity mistakes in sentence structure and punctuation. Students should expect to walk away with a toolkit of techniques and tricks to understanding and tackling any writing format.
