Can full-time students work in the first semester?

Wagner does not recommend that full-time students work in their first semester. Rather, it is advisable to focus on adapting to the new setting of graduate school; also, core courses are a significant time commitment, requiring additional recitation/lab sections in addition to coursework. Once full-time students enter their second semester, most will work part-time. Students will often work full-time at an internship during the summer and some may find a full-time position after their first year and switch to part-time course enrollment. Part-time and full-time status at Wagner is fluid, hence students can move between the two.
