Is the GRE or GMAT required for admission?

The GRE or GMAT is optional for admission into most of NYU Wagner's master's-level programs. However, the GRE or GMAT is required for those applying to the PhD in Public Administration and strongly encouraged for the Master of Science in Public Policy (MSPP) program.

Whether you choose to submit scores is entirely up to you. Many of our merit-based aid recipients do submit GRE/GMAT scores, as they provide an additional data point that can help us assess academic potential. While we encourage applicants to prepare for and take the GRE/GMAT to strengthen their application, it is not a requirement.
