It is always inspiring to meet people who truly drive change in healthcare. During this year’s Kovner-Behrman event, NYU Wagner brought together healthcare leaders, frontiers, and students to share experiences and knowledge on what challenges are faced within the New York City healthcare system.

I truly enjoyed the conversation with the panelists—particularly the emphasis placed on communication as a key element in healthcare management. This was a great take-home message for me as an aspiring healthcare professional, and I will certainly make this a golden rule in my future roles.

The 23rd Annual Kovner-Behrman Health Forum was held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at NYU Wagner. The evening entailed a discussion with Dr. Mitchell Katz, President and CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals, Bruce Siegel, President and CEO of America’s Essential Hospitals, and Dr. Jo Ivey Boufford, Clinical Professor of Global Health at the NYU College of Global Public Health. The speakers discussed how their systems are setting priorities to address challenges and finding opportunities to meet their missions of providing healthcare for our nation’s most vulnerable populations.
