House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi Appoints NYU Wagner Dean Sherry Glied to Evidence-Based Policymaking Panel
NYU Wagner Dean and Professor of Public Service Sherry Glied will serve on a new bipartisan commission to look at ways to use data more effectively to measure the impact of federal tax and spending programs.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi appointed Dean Glied to the 10-seat Evidence Based Policymaking Commission.
House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) pressed for a commission in their capacity as chair of the House and Senate Budget Committees, respectively, after negotiating to keep the government open in 2013.
The panel will look at how federal data is used, and whether the data can be organized better to improve measurement of the effectiveness of federal tax and spending programs, as Bloomberg reported.
The legislation creating the Commission was passed in March.
