NYU Wagner Alumni Natasjah Holtz and Kartika Fuentes Selected for RISE Program
A pair of NYU Wagner alumni recently completed the RISE Program, a six-month leadership development opportunity for early-career individuals working in nonprofit organizations. Offered by The Institute for Nonprofit Practice, the RISE Program helps individuals deepen their understanding of mission-driven organizations and develop crucial leadership skills through individualized mentorship, peer learning, networking, and access to additional resources.
The two Wagner alumni who participated are:
Natasjah Holtz (MPA 2024), Central Life Plan Coordinator, AHRC NYC
A born-and-raised New Yorker, Natasjah Holtz (she/they) began her career as a Direct Support Professional at AHRC NYC, where she developed a deep commitment to serving the Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled (I/DD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and physically disabled communities. Their experience inspired them to pursue an MPA at NYU Wagner, focusing on public policy for the I/DD, ASD, disability, and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Kartika Fuentes (MPA 2023), Program Manager – Neighborhood Safety Initiatives, Center for Justice Innovation
Bronx native Kartika Fuentes has built an impressive career in public safety, community engagement, and advocacy. As the Program Manager for Neighborhood Safety Initiatives at the Center for Justice Innovation, Kartika’s work involves resident investment, public space transformation, and participatory policy influence. Her background includes roles with the NYC Council, U.S. House of Representatives, and grassroots organizations like AmeriCorps VISTA. Through her efforts, she empowers marginalized communities to reshape their neighborhoods and advance social equity.
