NYU Wagner Alumnus George Latimer Wins Election as Westchester County Executive

Election 2017 catapulted an NYU Wagner alumnus, George Latimer, to victory in a hotly contested race for Westchester County Executive.

Latimer (MPA 1976), who won by 57-to-43 percent, has served since 2013 as a New York State Senator from Rye. Previously, he served in the State Assembly, the County Board of Legislators, and the Rye City Council.

A Democrat, Latimer won the County Executive Race on Tuesday despite being outspent by his opponent by a 3-to-1 margin. Latimer's resounding win over the two-term Republican incumbent was seen as a reflection of voter unease with leadership in Washington, DC, as well as a recognition of his business experience, bipartisan approach, and longtime dedication to public service in Westchester.
