NYU Wagner Announces Master of Science in Public Policy (MSPP) Degree Program
In today’s complex world, a wide array of skills are needed to have an impact on public policy, from knowledge of economics and the context of policy, to a strong set of quantitative abilities. And as state, city, and federal governments generate more and more data, talented policy analysts are needed more than ever before.
NYU Wagner is proud to launch a Master of Science in Public Policy (MSPP). The new degree program provides students with the quantitative skills they need to assess, create, and implement public policies that will have a lasting effect on the public good. It is a springboard to a career in policy analysis in fields and sectors extending from local housing policy to national health policy to international development, and from New York City to cities around the world.
NYU Wagner Professor of Public Policy Rajeev Dehejia leads the MSPP degree program. He and other highly accomplished faculty who are leaders in their fields will teach the curriculum, which blends policy analysis, advanced quantitative methods, public management, and strategic communications. This comprehensive approach reflects our belief that policy analysts, to successfully design public policies that work, must understand how to gather, evaluate, interpret, and communicate data.
“When our students graduate,” Professor Dehejia explains, “they will be ready to work, with confidence and acumen, as an analyst or a consultant at a think tank, a nonprofit organization, or a government agency. They will possess a quantitative skill set, rigorous tools for economic and policy analysis, and an understanding of effective public management and strategic communications. Just as importantly, they will have a new perspective on critical public service challenges facing our world.”
