H.R.1, or the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, is projected to significantly reduce federal healthcare spending and increase the number of uninsured individuals over the next decade. In anticipation of these significant changes to the healthcare policy landscape, NYU Wagner convened an expert panel to discuss the challenges facing healthcare organizations.

Carla Jackie Sampson, Clinical Professor of Healthcare Management and Director of the Health Policy and Management and online Master of Health Administration programs at NYU Wagner, convened the panel, while Elizabeth Wolff (MPA-HPAM 2011), Principal of Health Management Associates, moderated the conversation between the panelists:

  • Debbian Fletcher-Blake, Chief Executive Officer, VIP Community Services
  • Errol Pierre (MPA-HPAM 2013), Senior Vice President of State Programs, Healthfirst
  • Channon Lucas, Executive Vice President of External Engagement & Chief Administrative Officer, Mother Cabrini Health Foundation

The panelists offered an insider perspective on how healthcare organizations are navigating these changes, and answered community members’ specific questions about their organizations’ experience. The conversation highlighted the importance of educating stakeholders on how H.R.1 will affect them.
