NYU Wagner Names Carla Jackie Sampson as Director of HPAM and Online MHA degree programs
NYU Wagner is delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Carla Jackie Sampson to serve as Director of the Health Policy and Management (HPAM) Program and the Online Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program.
Carla Jackie Sampson, Ph.D., MBA, FACHE, is Clinical Associate Professor at NYU Wagner. She is board-certified in healthcare management and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
“Dr. Sampson brings a critical set of in-depth experiences in healthcare research, management, and education,” said Sherry Glied, Dean, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University. “We are thrilled that she’ll be stewarding our nationally distinctive HPAM and online MHA degree programs in the year ahead.”
Previously, Dr. Sampson was Assistant Professor and Director of Healthcare Management Programs in the Department of Risk, Insurance, and Healthcare Management Programs in the Fox School of Business, Temple University.
Her research interests include healthcare workforce policy, social determinants of health, and anchor mission strategy development. Sampson is a co-author of the recent publication, Structural Racism and Social Environmental Risk: A Case Study of Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes in Louisiana. She brings extensive experience in the online and traditional classroom setting. Her areas of teaching experience include organizational strategy, executive leadership, human resources management, and healthcare policy. She is the co-editor of the forthcoming 5th edition of the widely adopted textbook, Human Resources for Healthcare: Managing for Success.
Prior to her appointment at Temple, Dr. Sampson was the Vice President of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME), ensuring excellence in the educational preparation of future leaders in the healthcare sector through CAHME’s accreditation program for competency-based healthcare management education.
