NYU Wagner Prof. Erica Foldy Receives MLK Jr. Faculty Award

Erica Foldy

NYU Wagner professor Erica Foldy has been selected to receive the New York University Provost’s prestigious 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., presented to outstanding faculty members – nominated by students – who exemplify the spirit of the transformational civil rights leader through their teaching excellence, leadership, commitment to social justice, and community building efforts.

The NYU Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award is sponsored by the Offices of the President and Provost, in partnership with the Office of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation.

At Wagner, Dr. Foldy serves as Associate Professor of Public and Nonprofit Management; Director of Public and Nonprofit Managemen and Policy Program; and Co-Director of the Capstone Program. Her research addresses the question: What enables and inhibits collaboration and learning across potential divisions?  She is interested in how our identities (such as race or gender identity), frames (such as color blindness or color cognizance), and learning behaviors (such as reflection) affect our ability to connect at work with others. Her research embeds these influences in broader organizational and social contexts by exploring power dynamics, leadership, and safety climate.

The 2021 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Faculty Award Ceremony (via Zoom) on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m (ET)., will honor this year’s nine NYU faculty award recipients.

Congratulations, Professor Foldy!
