NYU Wagner’s Office of Career Services hosts annual LinkedIn and career networking event
In February, NYU Wagner’s Office of Career Services hosted a Lights, Camera, LinkedIn! event where students and alumni received personalized LinkedIn profile reviews from LinkedIn representatives. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to receive a professional headshot.
Over sixty students and alumni attended the in-person event to learn best practices on how to tailor their LinkedIn profiles and pitch themselves to prospective employers. Attendees learned how to highlight their skills and professional experiences through LinkedIn. Attendees also learned how to utilize LinkedIn as a networking tool to connect with professionals with similar interests and experiences, build a network of professional contacts, and plug into a network of NYU Wagner students, alumni, and faculty.
Lareina Wang, first-year MPA-PNP student said, “It was a great experience talking to the professionals to build up my LinkedIn profile. They helped me pinpoint my skill sets to highlight in my profile so I can develop meaningful connections and a strong professional network.”
Using LinkedIn allows students and alumni to keep up with classmates and professors and offer support to each other throughout their career journeys. In addition to the tips offered at the event, students and alumni can utilize the resources at the NYU Wagner Office of Career Services, including curated career guides on how to navigate LinkedIn, networking best practices, and interviewing advice. Students and alumni can also check out LinkedIn’s Career Guidance Hub that offers courses on how to improve your profile and leverage your network.
