President Biden to Nominate Professor Lily Batchelder for Tax Policy Position

President Biden has nominated Lily Batchhelder, Affiliated Professor at NYU Wagner and Robert C. Kopple Family Professor of Taxation at NYU School of Law, for the position of Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy in the U.S. Treasury Department.

The White House announced President Biden's intention to nominate Professor Batchhelder and others for key government positions.

During the Obama administration, she served as Majority Chief Tax Counsel for the US Senate Committee on Finance, and later as Deputy Director of the White House National Economic Council and Deputy Assistant to the President. A former tax associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, she focuses her scholarship and teaching on personal income taxes, business tax reform, wealth transfer taxes, retirement savings policy, and social insurance.

Once confirmed by the Senate, Professor Batchelder will take a public service leave.
