Professor Julia Lane Honored for Service to the Social Sciences

Professor Julia Lane has been selected to receive the 2017 Warren E. Miller Award for Meritorious Service to the Social Sciences, an honor initiated in 1993 by the Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) to recognize individuals who have had a profound impact on social science research and infrastructure.

Lane is a Professor at NYU Wagner, the NYU Center for Urban Science and Progress, and an NYU Provostial Fellow for Innovation Analytics. Her research focuses on big data’s role in government and public policy. She has published over 70 articles in leading economics journals and authored and edited numerous books. She has been the recipient of over $50 million in grants from foundations, government agencies, and international organizations.

Lane will be honored during an awards ceremony during the 2017 Biennial ICPSR Meeting on Thursday, October 12.
