Professor Vanessa L. Deane Receives Award for Paper On Haiti's Institutional Challenges

NYU Wagner Professor Vanessa L. Deane is the winner of the Outstanding Decentralization Paper Award for Latin America and the Caribbean (2021/22). This blog post provides a summary overview of her paper, "Towards a Decentralized Haitian State: The Promises and Shortcomings of the Post-Duvalier Constitution of 1987."

The paper grapples with Haiti's most recent institutional challenges over the past 35-plus years to better contextualize the country's post-2010 earthquake realities, the unprecedented 2018 public outcry, as well as the president's assassination last summer.
