Student Op-Ed: "I Didn't Vote. It's Not My Fault Though."
For the last year, NYU Wagner has run a writing workshop in the Intro to Public Policy course recitation with a goal of giving all Wagner students some instruction in writing best practices. For their first assignment, all students in the class learn how to write an op-ed. In addition to writing their own policy-centered opinion piece, they choose a target publication and take drafts through multiple iterations, giving and receiving feedback in small groups led by writing center coaches. In each semester that the op-ed event has been run, several students have gotten their pieces published. The first student in the fall 2018 workshops to publish an op-ed is Palak Kaushal (MPA 2020), whose article about missing the voter registration calendar in New York has been picked up by CityLimits.org.
Congratulations, Palak!
