Third Annual SOUP for Dinner Event Provides Grant to Nonprofit
The Wagner Philanthropy student group hosted its third annual SOUP micro-granting event on Thursday, December 3, 2015. The event invites participants to hear proposals from a group of nonprofit organizations over the course of dinner, and subsequently vote to select which organization will receive a grant.
This year’s event featured seven nonprofit organizations: Clean Water for Everyone, Day One, Madre, NazarethHousing, Paint the World, Refoundry, and Seed Artists. The sixty event guests voted MADRE as the winner, an international women’s human rights organization, which partners with women to create social change in contexts of war, disasters, and their aftermath. Wagner Philanthropy was thrilled to present MADRE with a grant of over $1,000 dollars, the total of proceeds raised from the event.
Wagner Philanthropy launched SOUP for Dinner in honor of Giving Tuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. The event was co-sponsored by several Wagner student groups: BRIDGE, BSA, IPSA, WagVets, WEPSA, and WWC. SOUP for Dinner seeks to expose NYU Wagner students to interesting public service organizations, while also allowing them to experience the positive impact that individual giving can have.
