Barbara Brancaccio serves as the Chief Communications Officer and Executive Vice President for the Department of Communications at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). A communications professional with more than 25 years of experience, Barbara manages all communications for New York City’s largest residential landlord and the nation’s largest public housing authority, including more than 350,000 residents. She is the chief spokesperson, strategist, and principal communications advisor for all NYCHA policies, programs, and initiatives, leading the Department of Communications and its work to disseminate information to all stakeholders including the media, residents, employees, elected officials, partner organizations and the general public.
Prior to NYCHA, Barbara served as a communications consultant for political and advocacy campaigns, as well as local and national associations, organizations and corporations. Her extensive public service experience includes serving as the Managing Director of Press and Communications for the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery, Deputy Commissioner for Communications and External Affairs at the City’s Department of Homeless Services, and the Executive Deputy Commissioner for Communications at the NYC Human Resources Administration. Barbara earned a Master of Arts degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from New York University.
