John Scianimanico is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. He is also an Associate Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund, where he leads a portfolio designed to transform student math education by working with organizations at the forefront of leveraging generative artificial intelligence.
Prior to NewSchools, John served in the Connecticut State Department of Education and Governor’s Office, deploying over $50 million to accelerate student postsecondary success, mathematics achievement, and summer learning in the wake of the pandemic. During this time in government, he launched the Connecticut High-Dosage Tutoring Program in over 40 public school districts, serving thousands of students and leading to the narrowing of math learning gaps for participants. His career also includes teaching high school mathematics with Teach For America and leading a team on Pete Buttigieg’s historic 2020 presidential campaign in Iowa. John graduated Phi Beta Kappa/magna cum laude from American University with a BA in Political Science and from the Harvard Kennedy School with an MPP. He is fluent in Italian and spent eight months studying at the University of Modena in Italy in 2012.
