I am in my final year. Can I get full-time equivalency?
The University defines "full-time" as taking 12 or more credits in one semester and "half-time" as taking six or more credits in one semester. A student’s time status has implications for financial aid, particularly as it pertains to federal student loans; students who are not enrolled in half-time course load, or equivalent, are ineligible for federal Stafford Loans, for example:
Under certain circumstances, students who are taking fewer than the required number of credits may be granted an equivalency, which is recognized for student loan and student employment purposes.
To qualify for full-time equivalency while enrolled in Capstone, students must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled in 5 credits, including Capstone
To update their equivalency status, students must email a request to firstname.lastname@example.org. The request must include the student’s name, student NYU ID number (e.g. N1...), and NetID (e.g. abc123).
