Members of the NYU Wagner Community Named to Mayoral Councils on Restarting NYC Economy
Numerous members of the NYU Wagner community have been selected to add their policy and management experience and expertise to new advisory councils that New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has created to inform his administration’s efforts to restart the city economy.
Comprising a range of senior-level managers of public service organizations in New York, the alumni, current student, and former and current members of the faculty were appointed to contribute to addressing critical areas such as healthcare, transportation, nonprofit and social services, and education. The areas reflect focal points of research and learning at the graduate school of public service, whose graduates go on to careers devising, implementing, and managing policies in and across all major professional sectors, and researching and teaching about public service issues.
The mayor’s councils will provide guidance to shape the city’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and serve as vital links to disseminate information about re-opening.
“These councils will provide real-world guidance to ensure our plans to reopen the city make sense and keep people safe. We are facing an unprecedented crisis, but by working together, we will come out stronger than before,” stated Mayor de Blasio in his announcement.
