Seven NYU Wagner Alumni Recognized for Nonprofit Leadership by City&State New York
NYU Wagner congratulates seven of its graduates who have been recognized by City & State New York for outstanding leadership in the nonprofit sector.
These MPA degree holders from Wagner make up a particularly large and impressive presence on the 2021 Nonprofit Power 100, and they include: Jennifer Jones Austin (EMPA 1996), CEO & ED, Fellowship of Protestant Welfare Agencies; Kevin Suillivan (PhD 1995), Executive Director, Catholic Charities Archdiocese of NY; Javier Valdes (MUP 2004), Co-Executive Director, Make the Road New York; Alan van Capelle (EMPA 2012), President & CEO, Educational Alliance; Lorraine Cortes-Vazquez (MPA-PNP 1983), Commissioner, NYC Dept for the Aging; Michelle Yanche (MPA-PNP 2001), Executive Director, Good Shepherd Services; and Muzzy Rosenblatt (MPA-PNP 1992), President & CEO, Bowery Residents' Committee.
The role of nonprofit leadership has rarely if ever been so critical as it is in this pandemic era. As City&State New York noted, “In a year filled with unprecedented need, nonprofits have stepped up to ensure continued support for vulnerable New Yorkers.”
The NYU Wagner community is proud to associate with these accomplished graduates, each of them proven leaders who are dedicated to innovating, implementing, and managing policies and services with significant and lasting impact on the public good.
