Could you share a bit about yourself and tell us what inspired you to attend NYU Wagner?

From the beginning of my career, I knew I wanted to work in the social impact space, designing programs and creating opportunities for communities that have historically lacked access. When I first joined Jobs for the Future (JFF), I worked in operations, ensuring the behind-the-scenes functions of our initiatives ran smoothly. But as I became more immersed in our mission, I realized that to transition into programmatic work—where I could directly shape workforce and education solutions—I needed to deepen my expertise in program design, technical assistance, and impact measurement. While JFF provided me with invaluable opportunities to grow, I knew that advancing my career would require furthering my academic foundation.

As a lifelong New Yorker who studied urban studies in undergrad, NYU Wagner was a natural choice. It offered the interdisciplinary approach I needed, blending policy, management, and finance in ways that aligned with my evolving role in social innovation. Since joining Wagner, my decision has only been reaffirmed. The ability to bridge theory and practice—bringing frameworks from the classroom into my work on green workforce development and the green economy—has been invaluable. I’ve found the right balance between being a professional and a student, ensuring that my work not only addresses immediate challenges but is also informed by the broader, systemic changes needed to drive lasting impact.

Are there any specific lessons or skills you have learned at Wagner that you will take with you after graduation?

At Wagner, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from experts across disciplines—impact investing, disability inclusion, sustainable planning, and design thinking—each offering a unique lens on social change. But the most valuable lesson I’ll take with me is the art of problem-solving: understanding who you are serving, questioning the assumptions you bring into a conversation, and systematically analyzing the systems and resources that shape impact. More than anything, Wagner has reinforced the importance of perspective-taking—unpacking nuances and stories that aren’t my own—so that I can approach challenges with empathy, creativity, and a willingness to advocate for a more just society.

What does it mean to you to be a part of Wagner Womxn?

Being part of Wagner Womxn means belonging to a community that empowers, uplifts, and creates space for women and femme-identifying individuals to support one another. Coming from a historically women’s college, I know firsthand how transformative it is to find strength in shared visions, especially during moments of uncertainty (especially right now). I'm always trying to find community here as a part-time student, and I’ve realized how crucial it is to see yourself in others, to root for and uplift women as we navigate our careers. As the Wagner Women Co-Mentorship Chair, I’m honored to help foster connections between those seeking guidance and those eager to share their wisdom. Knowing that small communities like ours can have ripple effects—where encouragement turns into action and inspiration leads to change—gives me hope for a future where women continue to create opportunities for one another.

What upcoming program or event are you looking forward to for Wagner Womxn?

I’m really looking forward to our Wagner Womxn Spring Mentorship Program! This program is designed to connect students with experienced professionals who can offer career advice, industry insights, and personal perspectives on leadership and growth. Creating these spaces for women to learn from and uplift one another is essential to building a stronger, more inclusive future. I’m excited to see the relationships that form and the impact they’ll have—not just for the mentees, but for the mentors as well.
