How do I obtain an official or unofficial transcript from NYU?

All types of official NYU Transcripts are processed by the Office of the Registrar.

Is it possible to go from a full-time student to a part-time student?

Part-time vs. full-time status is determined by the number of credits you register for each semester. There isn't anything special you need to do to go from one status to another - taking 9 or more credits is considered full-time, taking fewer than 9 credits is considered part-time.

How are teams selected in a Capstone program and how many people are there on a team?

Several factors play a role in team composition: interest in various projects, skill sets needed for a given project, diversity of skill sets and experience on each team, and team size. The specific team selection details vary depending on the individual Capstone instructors.

Are students given any opportunities to work with professors?

Students may have the opportunity to work with faculty through research projects or as a graduate assistant.

How do I Add/Drop a course after the Albert period is closed?

After the Add/Drop deadline on Albert, students may not add or withdraw from a course via Albert.

What is the Ellen Schall Experience Fund and what are the eligibility requirements?

Each year NYU Wagner awards up to 25 students with $7,500 stipends to take on unpaid, full-time, public service summer internships.

Is it possible to switch from part-time to full-time enrollment?

Yes!  You may change your enrollment status from full-time to part-time, or vice versa, without notifying the University.

What is the Capstone Expo?

The Capstone Expo is an opportunity at the conclusion of the program in May for all Capstone teams to come together and share their processes and findings with clients, faculty, administration, other students, and members of the wider NYU community.

Are financial resources available to Capstone groups?

Each Capstone team will be reimbursed up to $500 for expenses such as reproduction, binding, local travel, and/or preparation of Capstone documents and display materials.

How do I get off a course waitlist?

Courses occasionally have waitlists. If you place yourself on a waitlist, remember that the next eligible person on waitlist is automatically enrolled when a space opens up in the course.

Where can I find resources for housing and living in New York?

Whether you live on or off campus, are here for the summer, or are living in faculty housing, you will find yourself living "in and of" New York City. Manhattan's vibrant Greenwich Village neighborhood is home to many of NYU's campus buildings.

What are the prerequisites for Capstone registration?

To be eligible for Capstone, all students must have declared their specialization, commenced PER (if required), and have earned at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Students are randomly assigned to a Capstone section based on their program and specialization.

How do I reserve a room to use for Capstone-related work?

Capstone teams can reserve meeting spaces at NYU's Bobst Library online. Some client organizations may also have spaces available for meetings and final presentations.

How do I decide if I should enroll in the Research Capstone? How are topics for the Research Capstone selected?

The Research Capstone is designed for students who know they want to pursue a career in quantitative research, most of whom expect to go on to pursue a Ph.D.

How do I take a course outside of Wagner?

There are a number of courses that have been pre-approved by the Wagner faculty. Be sure to follow the detailed directions on how to request a pre-approved non-Wagner course.

Are there ever research assistant opportunities with Wagner faculty?

Yes, many Wagner faculty are involved with large research and program evaluation projects. Many of these include positions for full- or part-time research assistants, and Wagner students are strongly encouraged to apply for these positions.

How do I take a leave of absence?

Matriculated students in good standing who need to take a leave of absence from school up to two semesters for national service or serious illness are required to submit a written leave of absence request to the administrator of their program along with supporting documentation.
