Vote 2020 Fellows
We are thrilled to announce the VOTE 2020 Fall Fellows. Fellows will be working with nonpartisan voting rights and voter access organizations to get-out-the-vote this fall!
Asli Ali is a second year MPA-PNP student specializing in Advocacy and Political Action. She is a passionate advocate for criminal justice reform and believes that voting is a fundamental human right. She currently interns with the New York City Council Progressive Caucus and serves as the Vice-Chair of NYU Wagner’s Students for Criminal Justice Reform.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Asli will be working with One Fair Wage.
Elizabeth Kalu is an MPA candidate at NYU Wagner, specializing in Social Impact, Innovation, and Investment. She has over 6 years of experience working on social impact and developmental projects with a focus on education, digital access, youth, and women empowerment in Nigeria. She holds a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Suffolk University, Boston.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Elizabeth will be working with One Fair Wage.
Kobe Terrier is a full-time MPA-PNP candidate specializing in Advocacy and Political Action at NYU Wagner. Kobe previously interned in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia of Texas' 29th Congressional District and for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. He holds a BBA in Business Management from the University of Houston.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Kobe will be working with One Fair Wage.
Robi Lopez-irizarry is a third-year student at NYU studying Politics and Public Policy. He founded GenVote@NYU a student-led voting rights group built on his passion for pro-democracy initiatives. Previously, Robi interned as an organizer for the Let NY Vote Coalition and Voto Latino.
As a Vote 2020 Fellow, Robi will be working with Mi Familia Vota.
Stephanie Rosas-Garcia is a second-year MPA- Advocacy and Political Action candidate at NYU Wagner. She is passionate about helping the Latinx community specifically in addressing health equity and access. Stephanie volunteers with mutual aids in her community and immigrant rights justice groups to help address food insecurity, voter suppression, and tenant organizing rights. Previously, she worked as a community health worker advocating for the health of communities in all four boroughs of NY.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Stephanie will be working with Mi Familia Vota.
Elise Freiberg is a dual-degree MPH/MPA candidate specializing in Health Policy and Management. Her focus is on policy analysis especially as it pertains to improving the U.S. medical debt crisis. Prior to NYU, Elise worked for a healthcare startup headquartered in San Francisco, where she managed a national patient services team and advocated for patient rights during insurance claims reviews.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Elise will be working with Mi Familia Vota.
Arshdeep Dhanoa is an MPA - Health Policy and Management candidate at NYU Wagner. She is a recipient of the NYU Peace Corps Coverdell Fellowship for her volunteer work in the Republic of Moldova. Arshdeep strives to advocate for progressive health policies addressing the health disparities in America.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Arshdeep will be working with One Fair Wage.
Abby Brachio is a sophomore at NYU, studying Global Liberal Studies and Global Public Health. She is passionate about environmental justice and access to healthcare. Abby believes that voting is a fundamental right and wants to work to ensure equal access and education for all.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Abby will be working with One Fair Wage.
Alexia Nazarian received her MPA from NYU Wagner in 2020. She is passionate about addressing the urgent inequities facing American cities. Previously, Alexia served as a senior project manager at Empire State Development where she structured and negotiated over $15 million of State discretionary incentives.
Alexia is a returning VOTE 2020 Fellow. This fall, she will continue working with Mi Familia Vota.
Amberlee Wilson is an MA - Experimental Humanities and Social Engagement candidate at NYU. She is an advocate for sexual assault and intimate partner violence survivors with experience as a Program Volunteer Advocate at Mt. Sinai Hospital. In the future, Amberlee plans to pursue a career in policy change, program implementation, and research.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Amberlee will be working with Mi Familia Vota.
Ashleigh Nicole Hale is a senior at NYU, studying Global Liberal Studies with minors in Public Policy and Mandarin Chinese. Last year, she worked in the US House of Representatives as the first congressional intern for Congresswoman Haley M. Stevens representing Michigan’s 11th congressional district.
Ashleigh Nicole is a returning VOTE 2020 Fellow. This fall, she will continue working with One Fair Wage.
Ashley Emery is an MPA-PNP candidate at NYU Wagner, focusing on Public Policy and Advocacy. She has cultivated her expertise in reproductive health, rights, and justice advocacy and electoral politics through work at the New York State Democratic Party, Vote Run Lead, the International Women’s Health Coalition, and NARAL Pro-Choice America.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Ashely will be working with Jewish Women International.
Eric Cova received his MPA from NYU Wagner in 2020. During his time at NYU, Eric held several positions, including the role of Research and Teaching Assistant. Previously, he spent seven years with Madison Square Park Conservancy, most recently as Director of Marketing and Communications, where he played an integral role in developing the brand and strategic vision of the organization.
Eric is a returning VOTE 2020 Fellow. This fall, he will continue working with One Fair Wage.
Hunter Rabinowitz is a dual degree MPA/ MA - Hebrew and Judaic Studies candidate at NYU Wagner. Hunter has been involved in local organizing, in his home city of Brooklyn, since the 2016 election. He holds a BA in Government and Politics from St. John’s University.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Hunter will be working with Detroit Action.
Jack Epstein is an MS candidate at NYU’s Center for Data Science. Originally from New York, he spent the last three years in San Francisco working in analytics and business intelligence. In addition, Jack has volunteered with Tech for Campaigns in 2018 and worked on the winning campaign of Domingo DeGrazia in Arizona. He holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Pennsylvania.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Jack will be working with Mi Familia Vota.
Jessie Miller is an MPA candidate at NYU Wagner, specializing in Social Impact, Innovation, and Investment. Previously, she interned at the WES Mariam Assefa Fund, working to decrease economic barriers for immigrants and refugees. Prior to attending Wagner, Jessie worked in grant-making and fundraising roles at the UJA-Federation of New York. She also served as an AmeriCorps fellow at LIFT, an anti-poverty organization in the South Bronx.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Jessie will be working with One Fair Wage.
Julia Konrad is an MPA candidate at NYU Wagner, specializing in Public Policy Analysis with a focus on desegregating public schools. For the last five years, Julia taught 11th grade U.S. history at a 6-12 public school in Brooklyn. There, she also worked as a faculty advisor to student clubs promoting inclusion and political advocacy. She holds a BA in social studies from Harvard College and an M.Ed from Vanderbilt University.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Julia will be working with One Fair Wage.
Maya Portillo received her MPA from NYU Wagner in 2020. Currently, she is an Education Program Fellow at the Robert R. McCormick Foundation. Previously, Maya worked as a research analyst at an early childhood education lab within NYU Steinhardt.
Maya is a returning VOTE 2020 Fellow. This fall, she will continue working with Detroit Action.
Noah Kasmanoff is an MS candidate at NYU’s Center for Data Science. Before attending NYU, he worked for NASA and the US Food and Drug Administration. Noah is passionate about using data science and machine learning across domains, and first got involved in politics in the Summer of 2016, where he volunteered in his local congressional race, helping unseat a 7-term incumbent. He holds a BA in astronomy and physics from the University of Maryland College Park.
As a VOTE 2020 Fellow, Noah will be working with Mi Familia Vota.
Ruirui Gu is an MPA candidate at NYU Wagner, specializing in International Policy & Management, as well as an associate of NYU Impact Investment Fund. Prior to studying at NYU, she focused on teaching and organizing Chinese teenagers to take part in public benefit programs. In addition, Ruirui has worked in Kenya, Tanzania, and South Africa in field research and volunteer programs and interned at China-Africa Business Council as a researcher focusing on analyzing Chinese medical companies’ performance in Africa. She holds a BS in educational technology from Beijing Normal University.
