NYU School of Professional Studies

OVERVIEW

While we cannot guarantee capacity for Wagner students in NYU School of Professional Studies' (SPS) courses, you are welcome to request registration for an approved course. All courses taken must be credit bearing and must award a standard grade; "Pass" ("P") grades cannot count toward your Wagner degree.

NYU Wagner students who wish to take an elective at NYU SPS must follow the guidelines below to request registration.

Request Process

First, review the course descriptions and semester schedules. If an SPS course you wish to take is not on Wagner's pre-approved university-wide course list, you must obtain the syllabus and follow our instructions to request Wagner faculty approval to count the course as an elective toward your Wagner degree.

Center for Global Affairs

To take a class at SPS's Center for Global Affairs, you must email SPS's Center for Global Affairs at graduate.global.affairs@nyu.edu, or call 212.992.8380, to request permission to register for the approved course. Registration for courses can then be completed directly through ALBERT.

Schack Institute of Real Estate

Wagner students who wish to take an elective at a department at the Schack Institute of Real Estate must have completed URPL-GP 2639 Real Estate Finance and follow the guidelines below to request registration.

After obtaining approval to take a SPS Schack elective, you must fill out the Schack Cross-Registration Form. Course requests will be reviewed on or during the week of your request, based on availability. However, for high-demand courses, the response time may be greater since priority goes to Schack students to register. Before registering for course(s) at Schack, you must confirm with your program advisor that you have met the requisites for the course(s) by reviewing the requisites listed in Schack's Cross-Registration Prerequisite Information.

Important Notes:
* Students may only register for a maximum of 6 Schack credits per term
* Please be aware that some core classes are restricted.
* Course prerequisites are not waived. Professional experience does not satisfy any requisites.
* Schack instructors do not manage course enrollment, requisites, or the registration process and cannot override or waive policies.

ALL OTHER SPS COURSES

If you obtain Wagner faculty approval to count an SPS course as an elective toward your Wagner degree and are not able to register for the course yourself in Albert, then please contact advising staff at the SPS division offering the course to request enrollment assistance.
