Applying for Capstone

You must carefully review the instructions and timeline below since they contain critical information about how to apply for Capstone. Note that the application process begins in the spring term preceding your anticipated Capstone year.

All Capstone sections are scheduled to meet in person on Mondays at 6:45pm - 8:25pm ET for the entire year. You cannot be registered for a course that conflicts with all or part of this time block on Mondays.

Capstone APPLICATION Timeline
When Description
Late March Read the "Advising: Public Service Announcements" emails from Wagner Student Services for key Capstone details and deadlines.
Late March/
Early April
Complete the Capstone Application Form before the April deadline, even if you will be completing PER and/or final Capstone prerequisites in the summer term. Those who are eligible for Capstone will receive an email with a link to the form.
July 1

Check your NYU email for a message from Wagner Academic Services with information about your Capstone placement.

  • If you have completed all your prerequisites by this date, the email will include a permission number so you can register for the Capstone course. 
  • If you are still completing requirements, the email will outline further steps you must take in order to obtain your permission number.
August 1 Submit your PER position if you have not already done so; this date is the final PER submission deadline in order to be eligible for Capstone in the fall.
Early August Finalize your fall course schedule, including Capstone registration. Submit a Request for Equivalency, if required for financial aid or international student visa. Check Albert for an Enrollment Mismatch Hold and, if necessary, resolve the hold.
Registration timeline DURING Capstone
When Description
Early December Students who begin Capstone in the fall are automatically enrolled for the spring semester by December 1. Once enrolled for fall, you do not need to take action to ensure enrollment for the spring semester.
Mid December Finalize your spring schedule, which will include the second half of your Capstone course (1.5 credits). Submit a Request for Equivalency, if required for financial aid or international student visa. Check Albert for an Enrollment Mismatch Hold and, if necessary, resolve the hold.

Those who are eligible for Fall 2023 Capstone will be sent an email with a link to the Capstone application in late March.
