Applying for Capstone
You must carefully review the instructions and timeline below since they contain critical information about how to apply for Capstone. Note that the application process begins in the spring term preceding your anticipated Capstone year.
All Capstone sections are scheduled to meet in person on Mondays at 6:45pm - 8:25pm ET for the entire year. You cannot be registered for a course that conflicts with all or part of this time block on Mondays.
Capstone Registration Video
In general, the application process for Capstone begins in early April each year.
In advance of Capstone, you should:
- Declare your specialization
- Follow the Capstone prerequisites on your Program Requirement Checksheet
- Maintain good academic standing
Then in the months immediately prior to your Capstone year, you should follow these steps:
|Late March||Read the "Advising: Public Service Announcements" emails from Wagner Student Services for key Capstone details and deadlines.|
|Complete the Capstone Application Form before the April deadline, even if you will be completing PER and/or final Capstone prerequisites in the summer term. Those who are eligible for Capstone will receive an email with a link to the form.|
Check your NYU email for a message from Wagner Academic Services with information about your Capstone placement.
|August 1||Submit your PER position if you have not already done so; this date is the final PER submission deadline in order to be eligible for Capstone in the fall.|
|Early August||Finalize your fall course schedule, including Capstone registration. Submit a Request for Equivalency, if required for financial aid or international student visa. Check Albert for an Enrollment Mismatch Hold and, if necessary, resolve the hold.|
|Early December||Students who begin Capstone in the fall are automatically enrolled for the spring semester by December 1. Once enrolled for fall, you do not need to take action to ensure enrollment for the spring semester.|
|Mid December||Finalize your spring schedule, which will include the second half of your Capstone course (1.5 credits). Submit a Request for Equivalency, if required for financial aid or international student visa. Check Albert for an Enrollment Mismatch Hold and, if necessary, resolve the hold.|
