What were your takeaways from this conference/case competition?
Nonprofit technology has come a long way, and it still has a lot more to go. In today's climate, technology can help nonprofits but will require them to make some investments. Whether its CRMs or hiring your own software team, nonprofits need learn the latest technology and adopt policies that foster innovation while prioritizing their beneficiaries.
How will your participation in this conference/case competition support your professional development?
I have made a ton of new connections in the cross section of nonprofits + tech. From learning about resource augmented generation techniques to indigenous LLM tooling, I have learned so many more paths that I could pursue professionally after my graduation this coming May.
What are some next steps or action items this conference/case competition inspired?
I will be diving deeper on how to responsibly enable AI tooling within the nonprofit space. In particular, how can I advise nonprofits to lead them to make great technology decisions? I will be starting my Decoded Futures (Tech:NYC) volunteering with that much more knowledge from the conference.
What are some tips or best practices that you would like to share with other Wagner students who attend a conference/case competition?
Attend the extra events (games, happy hours, dinners)! You never know who you're going to meet at these and the connections you'll make in a more low-stress environment.
