What were your takeaways from this conference/case competition?
The COVID pandemic has fundamentally changed the healthcare landscape. As healthcare organizations and government agencies struggled to keep up, a few salient themes emerged. Specifically, the use of remote technology to improve access, the urgent need to address population health, and the mandate to improve health disparities. These are all priorities that are also evident in value-based care. The participants seemed in agreement that if we don't collectively address these, we are at risk of another, even worse pandemic event.

How will your participation in this conference/case competition support your professional development?
The participation in the conference catalyzed my professional development in the following ways: First, I enjoyed connecting with other professionals in the field and exploring potential career paths. Second, the conference allowed me to compare my professional experience and knowledge gained in the MHA program against the leading edge issues facing healthcare leaders.

What are some next steps or action items this conference/case competition inspired?
First, I have been following up with the contacts I made through networking. Second, I was inspired to get more involved in the local chapter of ACHE. Third, I was inspired to interact with so many leaders who are also committed to making healthcare more equitable.

What are some tips or best practices that you would like to share with other Wagner students who attend a conference/case competition?
Make sure to attend and participate in as many networking events as possible. The virtual format made it even easier because of the relatively small size and organized structure.
