What were your takeaways from this conference/case competition?
Before attending this conference, I was torn between sociology and economics as my field for further education. This conference was able to let me further hone in what fields of economics are interesting to me. On the other hand, I was also able to understand the broader framework of economics, the trend of latest research, and therefore see the limitations in my growth in the field. Overall, this was a really helpful experience to steer me in the right direction.

How will your participation in this conference/case competition support your professional development?
This conference helped me gain further exposure into the current research happening in the field of economics while also allowing me to meet researchers outside of the NYU network. It has helped solidify the direction of my further studies.

What are some next steps or action items this conference/case competition inspired?
My next steps are to focus my efforts onto sociology events, courses, and conferences. I am inspired by the quantitative methodology utilized in economics and would want to further look into how sociology incorporates quantitative methods.

What are some tips or best practices that you would like to share with other Wagner students who attend a conference/case competition?
While it is important to go into the conference with an open mindset, I found that making sure I am and feel prepared made me make the most of the conference. This includes looking through the poster session times days in advance to ensure no time conflict, identifying specific topics of interest (with a clear criteria of prioritization), and drafting a list of questions broadly based on titles. Being ready to take notes helped me retain a lot of the information.
